Bafana Away Kit To Be Unveiled This Week

Sportswire has learned that the South African Football Association (SAFA) will launch Bafana Bafana’s away kit on Thursday, the same day that Hugo Broos is set to announce his final squad.

SAFA unveiled the home kit for all national teams with their new technical sponsor, Adidas, two weeks ago. However, the away kit—used when the teams play outside South Africa—was not revealed at the time.

Just like the home kit, the away strip will be announced online. Adidas is giving fans enough time to purchase merchandise ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

South Africa will debut the new kits later this month when they take on Panama in two FIFA international friendly matches in Durban and Cape Town.

The first friendly will be played at Moses Mabhida Stadium on 27 March. Four days later, the teams will meet again, with Panama—like Bafana Bafana—also set to participate in the FIFA World Cup in June.

Broos announced a preliminary squad for the camp last week, but will trim it down to a manageable group of 26 to 28 players on Thursday.

Adidas, which is also a long-time partner of FIFA, replaced Le Coq Sportif after the French company’s contract expired in December.

A source also revealed that Bafana Bafana will have official suits, although it is unlikely they will be introduced during this camp, as Adidas will want the spotlight to remain on the new playing kits.

This will be Bafana Bafana’s final camp before the FIFA World Cup in June, meaning competition in training will intensify as players aim to impress the demanding Broos.

Sportswire confirmed on Sunday that it is highly unlikely Sipho Mbule will be included in the squad, with Broos reportedly frustrated by the Orlando Pirates midfielder’s conduct.

The upcoming camp will also mark the first time the national team assembles since their elimination from the Africa Cup of Nations in January, when they were knocked out by Cameroon in the round of 16.

The last time South Africa faced Panama was in 2005 at the CONCACAF Gold Cup knockout stages. Bafana Bafana, invited as guest participants and coached by Stuart Baxter, finished second in Group C behind Mexico.

South Africa lost the match 5–3 on penalties in the quarter finals after it ended 1–1 in regulation time. Lungisani Ndlela scored for Bafana in the 68th minute to cancel out an earlier strike by Jorge Dely Valdés in the 48th minute.
