Confirmed: Bafana Bafana To Face South Sudan In Cape Town

The South African Football Association has confirmed that Bafana Bafana will host their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against South Sudan at Cape Town Stadium on Tuesday, 19 November.

This will be the second match of the international window, with Bafana Bafana facing Uganda at Mandela National Stadium on 15 November.

The South African senior men’s national team will return to Cape Town for the first time since their friendly match against Angola in 2015.

“Yes, the game will be played at Cape Town Stadium, and we appeal to the fans to come out in numbers to provide a festive atmosphere for the team in this final Group K match. A good crowd would be the perfect reward for a team that has withstood a tough qualifying campaign plagued by injuries to several key payers. It would also be the perfect tribute to those players,” said SAFA president Danny Jordaan.

Bafana Bafana needs just a win in these two matches to qualify for the AFCON finals that will take place in Morocco next year.

Bafana Bafana currently sit second in Group K with eight points, two points behind leaders Uganda (10 points).

The 2025 AFCON qualifiers resume this month with South Africa traveling to Uganda on 15 November, before returning to host South Sudan in Cape Town on November 19th.

Coach Hugo Broos recently named a 38-player preliminary squad and will announce the final 23-man squad for both matches in the coming days.

Ticketing information and other match-related details will be communicated by SAFA in due course.
