Bafana’s Trio Shines In The Total Energies CAF CL Group Stages

As CAF Champions League group stages began on Tuesday, some players of Bafana Bafana playing in North Africa were on the score sheets in their teams.
The Algerian giant CR Belouizdad hosted Orlando Pirates at Stade du 5 Juliet in Algeria on Tuesday. Khanyisa Mayo’s side suffered a 2-1 defeat at home, but the former Cape Town City striker managed to score a consolation goal for the Algerian side.
This was the former Richards Bay striker’s first goal since he left during the off-season and was introduced in the 34th minute for Ishak Boussouf after Mohau Nkota had scored two goals for Pirates.
Meanwhile, in Tunisia, Bafana Bafana winger Elias Mokwana scored one goal for Esperance de Tunis in their 4-0 victory against Djoliba at home. The former Sekhukhune United winger played 82 minutes in this game as he was substituted by the 17-year-old Koussay Maacha.
Bafana Bafana vice captain Percy Tau also got some minutes in his team Al Ahly. The ‘Lion of Judah’ came in for Mahmoud Kahraba in the 76th minute in their 4-2 win to Stade d’Abidjan.
The former Club Brugge striker Tau will be back in South Africa next month as his side set to face the Buccaneers in their next game of the Champions League at Orlando Stadium.
Mokwana on the other side will face the Angolan giant Sagrada Esperança while Mayo’s side will be away against Stade d’Abidjan.
Al Ahly, in Group C, went joint-top with Pirates while Belouizdad is in third place in Group.
Mokwana’s side ES Tunis is currently in position number two in Group D.
