Berkane Take Command Of CAF Confed Cup Final With First-Leg Victory Over Simba

Fadlu Davids’ Simba face a tough challenge in the CAF Confederation Cup final after suffering a 2-0 defeat to Moroccan side RSB Berkane in the first leg at Stade Municipal de Berkane on Saturday night.
Berkane, who lifted the trophy in 2022 by defeating Orlando Pirates (co-coached at the time by Davids), established their lead with two first-half goals.
Lamine Camara put the home side ahead in the eighth minute, and Oussama Lamlaoui doubled their advantage just six minutes later in the 14th minute.
The second half saw Simba dig deep defensively to prevent further goals, setting up a crucial second leg at their home ground.
The return fixture will be played on 25 May at Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar City.
Simba will be hoping that their familiarity with Amaan Stadium, where they won the first leg of their semi-final against Stellenbosch before progressing after a draw in Durban, will work in their favor.
The Tanzanian outfit will need a significant improvement in the second leg if they are to realize their ambition of winning their maiden Confed Cup title.
For Berkane, who are also the reigning league champions in Morocco, this victory puts them in a strong position to claim their third CAF Confederation Cup crown.
