Broos To Announce Bafana Final Squad Next Week
Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos is set to reveal his final squad next week for the two FIFA World Cup qualifiers taking place next month.
As is customary, Broos announced a preliminary squad of 36 players last week for the upcoming away match against Nigeria and the home game against Zimbabwe.
Bafana will face Nigeria’s Super Eagles in Uyo on Friday, 7 June, before returning home to host Zimbabwe at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein on Tuesday, 11 June.
When announcing the 36-man squad, the South African Football Association (SAFA) indicated that the final 23-member squad would be revealed in the coming days. Sportswire has learned that the announcement might occur on 27 May.
The Bloemfontein match holds a special significance for Bafana Bafana. It will mark their first return to the city since their famous 2-1 victory over France in the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
For the 11 June match at Free State Stadium, gates will open at 15:00. Ticket prices are R50.00 for adults and R20.00 for children, scholars, and students (with valid ID required for students over 12 years old). Tickets can be purchased at various outlets, including TicketPro, Spar, SuperSpar, Putco, and Postnet.
Bafana Bafana currently sit second in Group C with three points after two matches, one point behind surprise leaders Rwanda. Nigeria, Lesotho, and Zimbabwe are tied for third, fourth, and fifth with two points each. Benin sits at the bottom of the group with one point.
