Chiefs Give Injury Update Of Sirino, Dove And Two Others

Kaizer Chiefs has confirmed that Gaston Sirino picked up an injury when they lost to Mamelodi Sundowns in the Betway Premiership two weeks ago.

Sirino, who joined Chiefs during the off the season from Sundowns and scored in the 3-1 win over AmaZulu, was taken off in the second half against his former club.

“Gaston Sirino sustained an abductor muscle injury in the last match and he is improving nicely and we expect him to beck in full training within two weeks,” Chiefs physio Dave Milner said.

Milner then elaborated on the state of some of the longer-term casualties.

“Another player progressing well is George Matlou. He has started running and doing some ball work and we are looking at a November return for him, “he added.

Of winger, Tebogo Potsane, who twisted an ankle three weeks ago, Milner said, “He went for a scan which showed some ligament damage, so we expect him to be out for around three weeks.”

A slightly later date is presumed for Amakhosi’s Mozambican defensive stalwart.

“Edmilson Dove is out of the protective boot and is doing some preliminary walking. We are confident he will be able to start running in November,” the experienced physio revealed, before concluding on a positive note regarding goalkeeper, Brandon Petersen, “Brandon had the pins removed from his finger and can start full training immediately.”

Other than Sirino, the other three players are yet to feature for the Soweto giants this season, where they have picked up six points from three league matches.

Chiefs’ first game will be Carling Knockout round of the 16 and the draw is set to be conducted on Tuesday midday in Sandton.
