Chiefs Midfielder’s Future Hangs In The Balance

Kaizer Chiefs is on the cusp of making a pivotal decision regarding the future of promising youngster Donay Jansen, who has found himself excluded from coach Nasreddine Nabi’s plans for the upcoming 2025/26 season.

Jansen’s journey with the first team began during the 2023/24 season under the guidance of coach Cavin Johnson, albeit with limited playing time, featuring in just two matches.

The 22-year-old’s fortunes didn’t improve significantly in the subsequent season, despite signing a three-year contract with the club.

Amakhosi decided to loan him to SuperSport United, but his loan stint at Amatsatsantsa proved challenging, with Jansen managing only three appearances across all competitions.

In a recent development, Sportswire has learnt that Jansen did not join the team on their pre-season tour to the Netherlands.

This move suggests that the club is exploring alternative options for the young midfielder, with a potential loan move being a likely possibility if a suitable opportunity arises.

However, if no interested teams come forward, Chiefs may be forced to consider two alternatives: releasing Jansen or relegating him to the DStv Diski Challenge team.

As things stand, Jansen’s future remains uncertain, and he is currently at home, not figuring in Nabi’s plans. The club’s decision on his fate will be made upon their return from the Netherlands.
