Chiefs Open To January Signing Despite Squad’s Satisfaction

Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze has indicated that while he is satisfied with the current squad, the club remains open to making a signing should the right opportunity arise.
Chiefs are the only top Betway Premiership club yet to make a signing during the January transfer window.
However, they recently promoted Thulani Mabaso from their DStv Diski Challenge side, with the youngster making his senior debut in a 1–0 victory over Golden Arrows at FNB Stadium on Tuesday.
That win lifted the Glamour Boys to third place on the league standings with 27 points from 14 matches.
Kaze revealed that he is happy with the current pool of players, noting that the January transfer window can be a challenging period to secure new signings.
“I’m very happy with the squad that we have,” said Kaze.
“We signed almost 12 players at the beginning of the season, and the difficulties we experienced during pre-season didn’t place the new players in the best position to adapt or fully understand how we want to play.
“Now we’ve had time to address those issues, and we’re confident we’ll start seeing more quality from everyone, especially the new players. January is also a very tricky period.”
Despite signing 12 players, some are yet to make their Chiefs debut, including Ethan Chislett and Nkanyiso Shinga. Both have been hampered by injuries and were again absent as Amakhosi completed a league double over Golden Arrows this season.
“You need to be careful when signing players, and I’m not saying that we won’t sign anyone,” Kaze added.
“If an opportunity presents itself, we’ll go for it. The window closes at the end of the month. But we also believe that the players we currently have are capable of competing at a high level.”
Chiefs are next in action when they face ZESCO United in a CAF Confederation Cup match in Ndola on Sunday.
