Sadio Mané, Victor Osimhen, and Brahim Díaz headline the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Team of the Tournament.
The curtain came down on the AFCON on Sunday when Senegal defeated hosts Morocco 1–0 in a dramatic and controversial final, a match that drew global attention due to incidents on and off the field.
Senegal’s match-winner, Pape Gueye, is included in the Best XI alongside Ademola Lookman and Idrissa Gana Gueye in midfield.
At the back, Calvin Bassey is partnered with Moussa Niakhaté at centre-back, while Morocco’s Noussair Mazraoui and Achraf Hakimi occupy the full-back positions.
Yassine Bounou, who claimed the Golden Glove award as Goalkeeper of the Tournament, is named between the posts.
Mané, who displayed remarkable sportsmanship by calling his teammates back from the tunnel after they protested a penalty awarded to Morocco, was named Player of the Tournament.
Despite missing a decisive penalty in the final, Díaz claimed the Golden Boot after finishing the tournament with five goals.
In the Team of the Tournament, Senegal and Morocco each have four representatives, while Nigeria contribute three players.
The selection, which was done by the CAF Technical Study Group, reflects a competition dominated by Africa’s traditional powerhouses, with no major surprise packages emerging as seen in previous tournaments.
