Chiefs Slayer Joins Songo

Mozambican giants Uniao Desportiva de Songo have welcomed back midfielder Manuel Kambala for a second stint with the club.

The 32-year-old defensive midfielder joins Songo as a free agent after leaving South African DStv Premiership side Polokwane City.

Nicknamed “The Lord,” Kambala previously played for Songo in 2018 before moving to Baroka FC in Premier Soccer League. He now joins former Mamelodi Sundowns winger Elias Pelembe, who signed with Songo last season.

Kambala is remembered for his decisive role in the 2019/20 PSL title race. While playing for Baroka, he scored a crucial equalizer against Kaizer Chiefs in the final match of the season.

This goal effectively denied Chiefs the championship and handed the trophy to Mamelodi Sundowns, who had been trailing Chiefs for most of the season.
