Chiefs To Release Nine Players

More heads are set to roll at Kaizer Chiefs, with nine players expected to depart the Soweto giants starting this week, Sportswire has been informed.
This follows the club’s internal review committee meeting, convened after another traumatic and ultimately disappointing 2024/25 season in the Betway Premiership.
In an effort to rectify the situation, Chiefs have already shown the door to Ranga Chivaviro and Sabelo Radebe, both of whom were deemed unproductive. Radebe, in particular, was sent back to Chiefs by Richards Bay after failing to break into their team during his loan spell. Upon his return, Chiefs decided to part ways with their academy product, who had struggled to make an impact.
Njabulo Blom will return to St. Louis City SC, in the United States of America, as he was on loan from the club, but he saw little game time.
Sportswire previously learned that Chiefs intended to part ways with Edmilson Dove, whose contract with the Naturena-based side expires at the end of June. Chiefs have no intention of retaining the Mozambican international fullback.
Another player whose future is under discussion is Reeve Frosler, whose contract also expires this month. However, reports suggest the fleet-footed defender is likely to remain at Chiefs beyond June.
There is also the case of club captain Yusuf Maart, who endured a tough period with fans last season. However, he ultimately redeemed himself by scoring the winning goal in the Nedbank Cup final triumph against Orlando Pirates at Moses Mabhida Stadium on 10 May, ending the club’s 10-year trophy drought.
Other players whose contracts expire this month are Edson Castillo, who suffered a significant injury this past season, as well as George Matlou and Mduduzi Shabalala. Shabalala, who started the season well and is a contender for the PSL Goal of the Season for his strike against Chippa United at Moses Mabhida Stadium, is expected to remain with the team.
Chiefs are compelled to make these changes, with a source stating, “These players are not good enough.” The club, whether they like it or not, must act in the transfer market to bring in quality players, especially as they will feature in the CAF Confederation Cup next season by virtue of winning the Nedbank Cup.
Under coach Nasreddine Nabi, they are expected to go deep in that competition, a mandate the club has given to the Tunisian coach.

Please get rid of Sirino, the guy is good but lacks emotional maturity and that puts the team on edge all the time as he is prone to bookings by the referee.
