Chippa United Announces Departure Of 18 Players

Chippa United has confirmed the departure of a significant number of players, with 18 leaving the club.

Among them are notable figures like Luvuyo Memela and Loydt Kazapua, who recently starred for the Namibian national team at the Africa Cup of Nations in February.

Namibia made history at the tournament, winning their first ever game in the finals and reaching the knockout stages for the first time.

Other players departing Chippa United include former captain Roscoe Pietersen, Azola Ntsabo, Siyabonga Nhlapo, Senzo Nkwanyana, Siphelele Luthuli, Darren Johnson, Menzi Ndwandwe, Andile Fakude, Kamohelo Mahlatsi, Diego Appollis, Khanyisile Mayo, Siseko Manoma, Yurig Conwod, and Andile Mbenyane.

Mbenyane, a veteran player who has been with the club for a significant period, has decided to retire from football.

Goodman Mosele, who was on loan from Orlando Pirates, and Gadinkame Modise, on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns, will be returning to their parent clubs.

“We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the above players for their dedication and contributions to the club. You have all brought pride to the Eastern Cape, and we wish you all the very best in your future,” club said in a statement.

“This announcement comes with the promise of exciting new signings that will be unveiled in due course.

“Fans can also look forward to seeing new faces from the Eastern Cape as we continue to build a strong and competitive team for the coming season.”

Chippa finished 12th this past season and for the first time in a while not involved in the relegation zone.
