Durban City Signs Amajita Captain
Durban City has announced the signing of Cape City midfielder Patrick Autata on a five-year contract.
The 20-year-old central midfielder captained the Amajita side that won the Africa Cup of Nations Under-20 in May in Egypt.
He won’t join his new team immediately, as he is currently in camp with Amajita preparing for the upcoming FIFA U20 World Cup in Chile.
Durban City chairman, Farook Kadodia, expressed his excitement about the acquisition. “Signing a player of Patrick’s calibre and character on a long-term contract is a statement of our intent,” said Kadodia.
“He embodies exactly what we are building at Durban City: youth, talent, and strong leadership. This speaks to our commitment to investing in and providing a platform for South Africa’s most promising young players to thrive.”
Autata spent some time integrating with the club in Durban before joining the U20 camp. He is the latest addition to the squad, following the arrivals of Thabo Nodada, Kyle Jurgens, Jean Lwamba, Darren Keet, and Haashim Domingo.
