Durban City vs Kaizer Chiefs Moved To Moses Mabhida Stadium

Durban City’s Betway Premiership clash against Kaizer Chiefs will now be played at the Moses Mabhida Stadium later this month.
Discussions around the venue had been ongoing for several weeks, with City management awaiting final confirmation and guarantees from the Moses Mabhida Stadium authorities.
After initial reluctance from City’s management — for reasons known to Sportswire — the matter appears to have been resolved, and the fixture has officially been moved to the iconic 2010 FIFA World Cup venue.
The match was initially scheduled to take place at Chatsworth Stadium on 31 October, but it will now be staged at Moses Mabhida. The date remains unchanged, though the venue upgrade represents a significant shift from the smaller Durban ground.
City recently played at Moses Mabhida this past Saturday, suffering a defeat to AmaZulu, who use the venue as their home ground.
Chiefs, meanwhile, are no strangers to the stadium. Last season, they hosted three home matches there, winning one and losing two. Notably, the venue also became a symbol of celebration for Amakhosi, as they ended a 10-year trophy drought by defeating Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup final held at Moses Mabhida.
Chiefs have already featured at the stadium this season, claiming a 1-0 victory over Golden Arrows, courtesy of a strike from Flavio da Silva, marking the Portuguese-born striker’s first start in Amakhosi colours.
Heading into the fixture, both Chiefs and Durban City are level on points in the Betway Premiership standings.
Chiefs currently occupy fourth place with 15 points from eight matches, while Gavin Hunt’s City side sit fifth, also on 15 points, but having played two more games.
