Dutch Side To Face Chiefs And Ngezana’s Club

Dutch side FC Utrecht are set to face Siyabonga Ngezana’s club FCSB and his former team Kaizer Chiefs during their pre-season camp in the Netherlands.
Kaizer Chiefs, who will compete in the CAF Confederation Cup next season, confirmed their pre-season trip to the Netherlands from 3-19 July. While the Amakhosi did not initially reveal their opponents, FC Utrecht has now confirmed a fixture.
“On July 11, the next opponent will follow. The most popular club in South Africa is the opponent: Kaizer Chiefs. This game will also be played behind closed doors,” Utrecht announced in a statement. Like Chiefs, Utrecht has yet to make any new signings.
In addition to playing Chiefs, Ron Jans’ Utrecht will also face Ngezana’s FCSB in another friendly match, which will be their first of the pre-season. FCSB won the Romanian Premier League this past season and reached the round of 16 in the UEFA Europa League, where they lost to Lyon.
“On July 1, the first opponent is FCSB. A club that is probably better known under the name Steaua Bucharest. The kick-off is at 13:00 against the Romanian top club. This is a closed, friendly game,” the club stated.
Utrecht, which finished fourth last season, previously featured Africa Cup of Nations winner Sébastien Haller. The towering striker, who has joined the club from Borussia Dortmund last season, scored for Ivory Coast in last year’s final against Nigeria. The club also boasts a history of prominent players, including Kevin Strootman, Dries Mertens, Dirk Kuyt, and Erik ten Hag.
