Former AmaZulu Striker Finds New Home
Former AmaZulu striker Augustine Kwem has moved to Vietnamese side Hanoi FC.
The ex-Chippa United forward has signed a one-year contract with an option to renew, becoming one of three foreign players at the club.
Kwem’s move to Vietnam follows his release by Usuthu at the end of last season. Despite being the club’s top scorer with eight goals in 28 appearances across all competitions, he departed the club.
Notably, he scored a hat-trick in Usuthu’s 3-1 victory over Golden Arrows in November, their first match following the tragic passing of Bongi Ntuli.
According to Sportswire sources, Kwem was becoming increasingly difficult to manage at AmaZulu due to his involvement with numerous agents promising lucrative moves to North Africa or Saudi Arabia. Once the club became aware of the situation, they opted not to renew his contract, resulting in significant salary savings of R3 million per month.
Kwem joined AmaZulu from TS Galaxy at the beginning of the 2022/23 season. During his time with Usuthu, he made 50 appearances and scored 11 goals. Overall, in the PSL with AmaZulu, Chippa United, and TS Galaxy, Kwem netted 28 goals and provided six assists in 128 matches.
