Former Chiefs Midfielder Finds New Home
Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Lucky Baloyi has found a new home in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, joining Black Leopards after his contract with Polokwane City expired at the end of last season.
Baloyi, affectionately known as “Sheriff,” joined Polokwane City in January 2023 from Maritzburg United and played a crucial role in their promotion to the Betway Premiership. However, despite initial plans to part ways with the defensive midfielder, he was retained under the guidance of coach Lehlohonolo Seema.
Unfortunately, Baloyi’s playing time was limited last season, as he was eventually surpassed by Mozambican international Manuel Kambala in the starting lineup. The 33-year-old has previously played for clubs such as Bloemfontein Celtic, Moroka Swallows, Royal AM, and won league and cup titles with Kaizer Chiefs.
Baloyi’s move to Black Leopards adds to the club’s recent signings of Clive Augusto, Daniel Gozar, and Ndivhuwo Ravhuhali. Lidoda Duvha will kick off their 2024/25 season with an away match against Highbury FC on Friday, August 23rd, at Isaac Wolfson Stadium.
