Frosler Demands Immediate Bounce-Back After MTN8 Exit
Kaizer Chiefs defender Reeve Frosler says the team must quickly put their disappointing MTN8 quarterfinal defeat behind them as they prepare to face Sekhukhune United in the Betway Premiership on Wednesday.
The Soweto giants suffered a setback when Golden Arrows knocked them out of the MTN8 on Sunday, but Frosler insists the players have no time to dwell on the result as they prepare for their third match of the campaign.
Chiefs started their Betway Premiership campaign on a positive note two weeks ago when they defeated newly promoted Kruger United, giving them an encouraging start to the league season. However, their defeat to Arrows has provided an early test of their ability to respond to disappointment.
“Yeah, losing a big game is not ideal, but we’ve got to pick ourselves up and go on to the next one,” Frosler said.
“We’ve got Sekhukhune on Wednesday. Another chance for us to go out there and do what we need to do to try and get a positive result.
“And yeah, as I said in the game, we are disappointed with the result, but we’ve got to look forward. We’ve got to look forward. Now we’ve got Sekhukhune on Wednesday and then another game on the weekend.
“Obviously, we’ve sat down, we’ve discussed what we need to discuss, where we can improve, what we need to get better at.
“And yeah, that’s what we’ve got to do going forward into Wednesday’s game. So yeah, looking forward to that game and hopefully then we can turn things back the way we want it to be.”
The challenge facing Chiefs will not be straightforward, with Sekhukhune entering the encounter without a defeat this season. Babina Noko have won both their opening league match and their MTN8 quarterfinal, giving them plenty of confidence ahead of the meeting with Amakhosi.
The fixture also carries an interesting storyline for Chiefs, as they will come up against their former coach, Cedric Kaze. The Burundian tactician is now in charge of Sekhukhune and will be looking to maintain his team’s unbeaten start against his former club.
A victory could potentially send Amakhosi to the top of the league standings, although that will also depend on the result of the meeting between Orlando Pirates and AmaZulu on Wednesday evening.
