Galaxy Coach Demands Immediate Turnaround

TS Galaxy interim coach Esau Mtsweni has expressed concern over the team’s poor run of form following their defeat to Orlando Pirates at Orlando Amstel Arena on Tuesday.

The Rockets have endured a difficult start to the season, recording just one victory in their opening eight matches. They currently sit 12th in the Betway Premiership standings, with six points.

Mtsweni, who also coaches the club’s DStv Diski Challenge side, has taken charge of the senior team in the absence of head coach Bernard Parker. However, Galaxy’s struggles have continued, with the team still searching for consistency and positive results.

Mtsweni acknowledged the need for an immediate turnaround, stressing that his side must start collecting points as soon as possible.

“It’s a bit tricky, but obviously, we need to start winning games,” said Mtsweni.

“For me, I believe it can’t be considered too early, but things need to improve. We need to start winning games now, not later. If we adopt the mentality of saying the next game is still early or that we still have the second round, we risk delaying progress. We need to start winning games now, and the earlier, the better.”

The loss to Pirates was the club’s third defeat on the bounce.

“I said they are one of the biggest teams in Africa,” said Mtsweni.

“When you play against them, you must know what you are up against. They are simply the best, and that is why they won the league. They are the best team ever.”

With results proving difficult to come by, Galaxy will need to regroup quickly and find a way to turn their performances into points as they look to climb the league table and move away from danger.
