Marumo Gallants have strengthened their squad with the signings of Siyabulela Shai, the son of former Mamelodi Sundowns attacking midfielder Isaac, and Sekele Sithole, who previously played for Baroka FC.

Shai, who was coached by Malesela in the Sundowns development, has a wealth of experience, having been promoted to the first team in the 2012/13 season. He was part of the Sundowns side that won the league title in the 2015/16 season under legendary coach Pitso Mosimane.

Shai has also had stints at Maritzburg United, United FC, Chippa United, EC Bees, Black Leopards, Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila, Sekhukhune United, and Platinum City Rovers, who were relegated to the ABC Motsepe League last season.

Gallants, who returned to the top flight after purchasing Moroka Swallows’ entity at the end of last season, have made several other signings, including Xola Mlambo, Tshepo Liphoko, Rewand Prins, Daniel Msendami, Phathutshedzo Nange, Mpho Wagaba, Kabomelo Mahlatsi, Siyabonga Nhlapo, Lebohang Mabotja, and Matome Mathiane.

Gallants will kick off their 2024/25 season with a home match against Kaizer Chiefs at Toyota Stadium next Saturday.
