Gyimah To Leave Sekhukhune

Defender Edwin Gyimah will leave Sekhukhune United at the end of the season, Sportswire has been informed.

Gyimah, according to a source close to Sportswire, embarrassed the club when it was his turn during the introduction of Katlego Mohamme to the team who joined the club on loan in the January transfer window from Mamelodi Sundowns, saying there are many issues the players are encountering within the club.

Then the management, having been left disappointed by the former Orlando Pirates defender, informed the technical team to banish him and the player has not been training with the club since the resumption of the second half of the season post the Africa Cup of Nations.

However, because he is still under contract, Sekhukhune is paying him until June but will not renew his contract upon expiration.

The 33-year-old last featured for Sekhukhune when they beat SuperSport United in November last year.

Coach Lehlohonolo Seema has been preferring Daniel Cardoso and Tresor Tshibwabwa in the heart of the defense since then.

Gyimah, who arrived to join SuperSport in the 2011/20 season in Ghana, has also played for Bidvest Wits, Black Leopards, and a short stint in Sweden with Helsingborg.

Since he arrived in the PSL, Gyimah has been in four Nedbank Cup finals, losing three and winning once – in 2012. He also lost the MTN8 with SuperSport against Moroka Swallows in the following season at Orlando Stadium.

He followed that up with another silver medal as Pirates lost the CAF Confederation Cup in 2015.

He was also part of the Ghanaian side that lost the Africa Cup of Nations trophy in the same year to Ivory Coast in Equatorial Guinea.
