“He Should Know Better” – Kaze Blasts Lilepo’s Absurd Red Card

Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze has criticised Glody Lilepo for his lack of discipline after being sent off against AmaZulu FC, saying the forward should have known better.
Lilepo was shown a red card against Usuthu at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday shortly after scoring what proved to be the winning goal.
It was Lilepo’s second yellow card of the match, having already been cautioned in the 52nd minute.
After finding the back of the net, Lilepo jumped over the advertising boards to celebrate with Chiefs supporters and removed his shirt as emotions ran high.
When he returned to the pitch, referee Christopher Kistoo was waiting for him and immediately produced a second yellow card, followed by a red.
Lilepo, who will now miss Chiefs’ final match of the season against Chippa United at Moses Mabhida Stadium next weekend, as well as the opening game of next season, received a huge ovation from Chiefs supporters as he made his way down the tunnel.
“It was an unfortunate situation with what happened to Lilepo,” said Kaze.
“He is a very experienced player, and he should know better because he had already been booked earlier in the game.
“But that is football, and I understand his emotions after scoring. If you are a human being without emotions, you are not a human being.
“We got the three points, and that is what matters. Now we just need to focus on the last game against Chippa.”
The victory over AmaZulu moved Chiefs to 54 points after 29 matches — the last time Chiefs surpassed 50 points was under Ernst Middendorp in the heartbreaking 2019/20 campaign, where they finished on 59 points and lost the title on the final day.
