Kaizer Chiefs Face Galaxy With Six Players Sidelined

Kaizer Chiefs will face TS Galaxy at Mbombela Stadium on Monday (15:30) with six key players unavailable due to injuries.

Amakhosi, who have been inconsistent this season, will be without midfielders Edson Castillo, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, and Gaston Sirino, defenders Dillan Solomons and Bradley Cross, as well as goalkeeper Brandon Petersen.

“The players sustained their injuries in various matches but are expected to return to action soon. Despite these injury setbacks, Amakhosi are focused on preparing for the encounter and confident of delivering a strong performance,” Chiefs added in a statement.

“Coach Nabi’s charges will be seeking to bounce back from their disappointing loss to Polokwane City last weekend. TS Galaxy were victorious in their last league match.”

The absence of Sirino will be a significant blow, as he is tied with Yusuf Maart for the team lead in assists with three. Both teams are top goal scorers this season with three goals each, with Dzenan Zajmović leading the way for Galaxy and Mdu Shabalala for Chiefs.

Chiefs currently occupy ninth place in the Betway Premiership table with 11 points from eight matches, while Galaxy sits in 11th position with nine points from nine games.

The last meeting between these two sides resulted in a thrilling 2-2 draw at FNB Stadium in May last season. Siphiwe Mahlangu and Ranga Chivaviro each scored twice in that encounter.
