Kaze Breaks Silence On Mayo’s Incident

Kaizer Chiefs interim coach Cedric Kaze has shared his thoughts on the much-talked-about incident involving Khanyisa Mayo, admitting that the situation left many people unhappy — including the player himself.

Mayo scored an offside goal, which was already going to be a goal from Pule Mmodi in their 1-1 draw Betway Premiership clash against AmaZulu on Wednesday.

This incident left Mmodi stunned, and many people were left frustrated because that could have been a winning goal for Amakhosi.

Kaze has stated that Mayo’s act was not intentional, and this issue will be addressed.

“I would say that those kinds of things happen, but you know, everyone was not happy, and starting with the player himself, Mayo,” said Kaze.

“It was an unfortunate situation, but that cost us the two points that we should have won. On another hand, it’s something that we will address in general because it’s not that it’s something he did on purpose to deny his teammate from scoring a goal.”

Meanwhile, Mayo will look to redeem himself as they take on Stellenbosch FC in the Carling Knockout Cup at DHL Stadium on Sunday.
