Kaze Demands Chiefs Improvement Ahead Of Durban City Clash

Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze has challenged his side to improve their attacking performance as Amakhosi prepare to host Durban City in a crucial Betway Premiership encounter at FNB Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Chiefs head into the match under mounting pressure following a difficult run of results.
The Soweto giants have suffered three consecutive defeats, losing to Stellenbosch, Orlando Pirates, and Richards Bay, a run that has raised concerns about the team’s form as the league season progresses.
Amakhosi’s most recent defeat was particularly worrying for the technical team, as Amakhosi struggled to create clear attacking opportunities and failed to register a single shot on target throughout the match against the Natal Rich Boyz.
Kaze admitted that such a performance was unusual for his side this season and acknowledged the need for improvement ahead of Sunday’s encounter.
“I believe that it is a first for the whole season that we experienced that (finishing the game without a shot on target),” he said.
“It is true that we have to do something different, and I’m not going to tell you how we are preparing.
“But we have taken that into consideration, and we are working hard to be better on Sunday.”
Despite the recent setbacks, Chiefs remain in the top half of the standings. The club is currently placed sixth on the league table with 30 points from 18 matches played so far this season, but they will be eager to return to winning ways to maintain their push for a stronger finish in the campaign.
As Amakhosi prepare for the clash against the Durban-based side, the Burundian mentor also provided an update on the squad, confirming that some players will be unavailable due to suspension while others are still working their way back from injury.
“For Sunday’s game against Durban City as you all know that we have two suspended players of which it’s OX (Sibongiseni Mthethwa) and Aden McCarthy,” Kaze added.
“But we have Etiosa Ighodaro, who is coming back, and he’s been training for the past three weeks alongside Reeve Frosler, but they have not yet featured in the game.
“We also have Brandon Peterson, who is recovering from his surgery, while Inacio Miguel trained in the last three days, but we still need to assist him.
“Mfundo Vilakazi is fully back at training after the knock he got against Stellenbosch. He is fully fit, and the rest of the players are training and are looking forward to Sunday’s game.”
The return of Vilakazi could provide a timely boost for Chiefs, especially after the youngster missed the recent matches against Orlando Pirates and Bay. His availability adds depth to the squad as Amakhosi aim to rediscover their attacking rhythm.
