KZN DSAC Sends 100-Member Team To National Public Servants Games in Mbombela

A team of 100 athletes will represent the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Sport, Arts and Culture (KZN DSAC) at the National Public Servants Sports and Cultural Events Tournament in Mbombela, Mpumalanga, on 16 and 17 October 2026.

The provincial contingent will join public servants from across the country for the national event, which aims to promote sports participation, healthy living, teamwork and unity among government employees.

The tournament will take place at various venues across Mbombela, with activities scheduled for the two-day event. The iconic Mbombela Stadium will serve as a key venue, providing a platform for participants to showcase their sporting abilities while representing their respective provinces and departments.

KZN DSAC will send teams to compete in several sporting codes, including netball, tennis, ladies’ football, men’s and women’s volleyball, athletics and chess.

The diverse selection of sporting disciplines reflects the department’s commitment to encouraging participation across different sporting codes and providing public servants with opportunities to demonstrate their skills, discipline and competitive spirit.

The 100-member contingent will carry the responsibility of representing KwaZulu-Natal on the national stage, with athletes expected to compete against counterparts from other provinces in a spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie.

Beyond the competition itself, the National Public Servants Sports and Cultural Events Tournament provides an opportunity for government employees to connect outside the workplace, build relationships and strengthen cooperation across departments and provincial administrations.

Sport also plays an important role in promoting physical fitness, mental well-being and a healthy work-life balance. Events of this nature encourage public servants to remain active while creating an environment in which talent, teamwork and mutual respect can flourish.

For KwaZulu-Natal, the tournament presents an opportunity to showcase the province’s sporting talent and demonstrate the value of investing in employee wellness and recreational activities.

As preparations continue ahead of the trip to Mpumalanga, the provincial team will be looking to make a strong impression across the various disciplines and represent KwaZulu-Natal with pride.

The event is expected to bring together participants united by their passion for sport, cultural engagement and public service, reinforcing the role of sporting activities in building stronger relationships and promoting a shared sense of purpose.

With 100 athletes set to represent the province, KZN DSAC will be aiming for a successful outing in Mbombela, where the contingent will have the opportunity to compete, learn and celebrate the spirit of unity through sport.

The tournament will run from 16 to 17 October 2026, with the provincial representatives looking to make KwaZulu-Natal proud on the national stage.
