Maart Keeps Trophy Hopes Alive

Kaizer Chiefs captain Yusuf Maart remains optimistic about his team’s chances of securing silverware this season, despite a recent setback against Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Soweto giants have not tasted major trophy success since winning the double in 2014/15 and are eager to end their trophy drought.
“Anything is possible,” Maart declared, emphasizing the importance of hard work and dedication.
Maart has been impressed by the team’s improved performance under coach Nasreddine Nabi, noting the increased aggression and intensity in training.
“The way we play, you can see,” he added.
“You can see there is a big improvement, from players, from coaches from what they want because they are aggressive on us. It is possible to win something this season.”
Maart, who has been with Chiefs for three seasons having joined the club from Sekhukhune United, continued: “For me to believe, for the past two seasons and this season – every season is a different season – but this season I think the technical team has a different mentality, their aggression on us at training. Whatever you do, the coach will shout at you if he has to, there is no favorite with anyone.”
With the MTN8 trophy now in the hands of Orlando Pirates, Chiefs will turn their attention to the Carling Knockout Cup, where they face SuperSport United in the round of 16 at New Peter Mokaba Stadium on 20 October. A victory in this competition could reignite their hopes of lifting a trophy this season. They have not won the League Cup trophy since the 2011/12 season.
