Maduka Plans To Give Thikazi More Game Time

Royal AM coach John Maduka has a plan to help Mfundo Thikazi get back his confidence and score many goals for Thwihli Thwahla.

Maduka believes that Thikazi is a talented footballer and has planned to give him more game time this season so that he will bring back his confidence and start scoring goals again.

According to Maduka, Thikazi is one of the players that helped them a lot in scoring goals in the previous seasons.

“It’s good to have him and I think he just needs to play more games so that his confidence will come back,” Maduka said when he was asked by Sportswire about Thikazi.

“If he plays more games and he gets the goal, I think it will help him because a player like him is one of the players that used to score many goals for us.

“It’s been dry for him, so we are trying as much as we can so that he can start and his confidence will come back.”

The 25-year-old Thikazi made his debut in the Premier League during the 2021/22 season when Thwihli Thwahla bought the status of Bloemfontein Celtic. He managed to score at least four goals and made one assist in 18 league games he played in that season at just 22 years old. Thikazi has 12 goals and two assists for Thwihli Thwahla in all competitions in the Premier League since he made his debut in 2021.

Last season, the KwaMashu-born talented winger scored just only one goal in the league but he also managed to represent Bafana Bafana in the COSAFA Cup at the end of last season in Gqeberha.

Royal AM is currently in position number nine with seven points after seven games in the league. Despite that Thwihli Thwahla has played seven games this season in the league, but Thikazi has played just three games.

Meanwhile, Royal AM will resume the league with the KZN Derby after the international break by facing Golden Arrows at Harry Gwala Stadium on Tuesday, November 26 then after that their last game in November will be against Kaizer Chiefs away from home at Peter Mokaba Stadium on the 30th on Saturday.
