Magesi FC Secure Puskás Nominee Masuluke

Sportswire has been informed that goalkeeper Oscarine Masuluke has signed for Magesi FC in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
The 33-year-old had been without a club since parting ways with Stellenbosch FC at the end of last season, having been deemed surplus by head coach Gavin Hunt.
Masuluke originally joined Stellies ahead of the 2023/24 season from Baroka FC, who were relegated to the second tier at the time.
During his spell with the Western Cape side, he featured in 30 matches across all competitions, conceding 29 goals and keeping 12 clean sheets.
He was also part of the squad that suffered back-to-back MTN8 final defeats against Orlando Pirates.
Now returning to his home province of Limpopo to join Magesi—who were relegated from the top flight last season—Masuluke returns to familiar territory.
The experienced shot-stopper first made his name at Baroka FC, making his debut in the 2015/16 season. He helped secure the 2018/19 Carling Knockout title after a penalty shootout victory over Orlando Pirates at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
However, he is best remembered globally for his iconic, late overhead kick against Orlando Pirates in a 2016/17 league match at Peter Mokaba Stadium.
The goal earned him a historic nomination for the FIFA Puskás Award, where he ultimately finished runner-up to former France and Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud.
In being nominated, he made history as the first African goalkeeper—and only the second African player overall after George Weah—to reach the top three for the FIFA Puskás Award, capturing 27.48% of the global vote behind Giroud.
