Makgalwa Pays Tribute To Pitso Mosimane For Shaping His Career

Sekhukhune United and Bafana Bafana attacker Keletso Makgalwa has expressed heartfelt gratitude to his former coach at Mamelodi Sundowns, Pitso Mosimane, crediting him for giving him the platform to showcase his talent and shape his football journey.
Makgalwa, who came through the Sundowns development ranks, says Mosimane played a pivotal role in his growth as a professional footballer and helped him become the player he is today.
The 27-year-old was promoted to the Sundowns first team in 2018 under Mosimane’s guidance and went on to make over 20 appearances for the Brazilians.
Although Makgalwa faced some setbacks, including injuries that forced him to be loaned out to several clubs, he eventually won two league titles, two Nedbank Cups, and one Carling Knockout (then called Telkom Knockout) with Sundowns before leaving the club in 2023.
“I think I’ve been working very hard, and it wasn’t easy to be honest,” Makgalwa said.
“Playing for a team like Mamelodi Sundowns and making it to the first team wasn’t easy.
“I think coach Pitso helped me so much to be where I was at that time, and I’m so grateful. I think now I’m getting closer to where I dreamed of, and yeah, I believe it will happen soon.”
Following his departure from Sundowns, Makgalwa joined Upington City in the Motsepe Foundation Championship in 2023 to revive his career.
The Mokopane-born forward later returned to the Betway Premiership with Sekhukhune United last season, where he impressed with his consistent performances, providing several assists and earning a nomination for Footballer of the Season.
Now, Makgalwa’s determination and persistence have paid off, as he is set to make his Bafana Bafana debut this weekend in an international friendly against Zambia. The match presents a major opportunity for him to impress coach Hugo Broos ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco next month.
