MC Alger Coach: Pirates Is An Opportunistic Team

MC Alger coach Khaled Ben Yahia has revealed that Orlando Pirates have what it takes to win the CAF Champions League this season.

The Buccaneers remain the only unbeaten team in the Champions League this season. In the group stages, the 1995 African champions finished on top of Group C, winning four games and drawing two.

Last week, Jose Riveiro’s side travelled to Algeria to face MC Alger in the first leg of the quarterfinal, where they won 1-0 with Mohau Nkota’s goal.

On Wednesday, these two rivals will face each other again at Orlando Stadium [18:00], where the winner will advance to the semi-final.

Speaking ahead of this game, Yahia revealed that the Buccaneers are an ‘opportunistic team,’ and they can win the Champions League because of that.

“I’ve found out that Orlando Pirates is a very disciplined team, the tactical discipline, the composer, and it’s very difficult in our continent to find that kind of a team,” Yahia said.

“They are opportunists, and they are very opportunistic.

“It’s very important to note that they are a team for this tournament because in our continent as a whole, we found it difficult to find that discipline in terms of tactical, composer and focus.”

However, Yahia is also confident they can finish the job in Orlando Stadium despite that they are 1-0 down already.

“Life, when there’s life, there’s hope,” he added.

“So, we are a big team; we are going to play, and the rest, we will see after the game.”

The last time Pirates reached the semi-final of this competition was during the 2012/13 season, where they lost in the final against the current African champions Al Ahly.
