Mnisi Shows Some Love To MaMkhize
Royal AM’s newly returned CEO, Sinky Mnisi, demonstrated his love for club owner Shauwn Mkhize after the team secured a 1-1 draw against Cape Town City in their opening match of the 2024/25 Betway Premiership season at Harry Gwala Stadium on Saturday, a sign that in football there are no permanent enemies.
This display of unity highlights the changing dynamics within the club, as Mnisi had previously left Royal AM amid allegations of mistreatment.
When the club gave Mnisi a leave last year, he claimed that Mkhize had failed to protect him from malicious accusations. However, he later announced that he had officially left the club in January. After a brief stint as CEO of Marumo Gallants, Mnisi has now returned to Royal AM in a similar capacity, not as COO as the club said.
Despite facing challenges, including a FIFA ban and ongoing legal proceedings, Mnisi remains optimistic about the club’s future.
Coach John Maduka expressed his delight at Mnisi’s return, praising his experience and professionalism.
“It’s good to have the veteran Mr Mnisi back to the team,” said Maduka.
“He has been in the game for a long, long time. At this time to have him back in the team it’s a bonus four us to have him.
“We know that he is a very professional man. There are so many things he is going to help the team going forward.
“So, we are very happy to have him back.”
Mnisi must address pressing matters as Royal AM still faces a FIFA transfer ban, which the club has appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). The hearing has been postponed from 13 September to 11 October.
According to the source previously, Mnisi is allegedly responsible for the mishandling of the Samir Nurkovic situation, which resulted in the club releasing the player without a settlement last year. The former Kaizer Chiefs striker was signed and the club allegedly did not conduct a medical.
Due to the ban, Royal AM has been left impacted both in the reserve league and in the Betway Premiership top flight. They have missed the first three matches of the DStv Diski Challenge because they don’t have players in the development.
