Nabi Reveals Mandate For 2025/26 Season

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has outlined his main objective in the hot seat at Naturena and shed light on the Glamour Boys’ target in the highly anticipated upcoming Betway Premiership campaign.

The Soweto giants finished in ninth place last season, missing out on a top-eight spot for the second successive season, as they registered their worst-ever finish in PSL history with a dismal 10th-place standing the previous season.

However, there was a silver lining for Chiefs as they ended a decade-long trophy drought with a Nedbank Cup triumph over fierce rivals Orlando Pirates, in the final staged at the renowned Moses Mabhida Stadium back in May.

With the 2025/26 league campaign on the horizon, the Tunisian mentor exuded confidence in his team’s readiness, stating that they are in the final stages of their preparations. However, they will be without the services of winger Pule Mmodi in the season opener.

“This is the last line, heading to the first game of the season, it’s just the last touches and adjustments for the first league game. But the only thing I can say is that we are very ready, just regretting the absence of Pule Mmodi for the first game through suspension,” said Nabi.

Having made it to the second year of his project despite speculations that he is set to be relieved of his duties at the back end of last season, Nabi says his mandate is to resurrect the club to its former glory days as they aim to stage consistent performances in the league this season.

“Our main priority and target is to put back Kaizer Chiefs where it belongs. I have noticed that people don’t like to hear the word process, but last season we managed to win one of the two major trophies we competed for, even though it was my first year,” he added.

“This season, we are going to take it game by game and try to be as consistent as we can, and we will see which position we finish at.”

Chiefs will commence their PSL season with a trip to the mother city, where they are set to square off against a formidable Stellenbosch FC side at DHL Stadium on Sunday (17:30). Nabi’s troops will draw inspiration from beating Stellies three times last season.
