Ndamane: Sundowns Talks Affect Me

TS Galaxy defender Khulumane Ndamane has admitted that the ongoing rumours linking him with Mamelodi Sundowns have affected him to some extent.

Earlier this season, the 21-year-old was rumoured to have attracted strong interest from Sundowns. Reports even suggested that the champions had reached an agreement with Galaxy for the KwaZulu-Natal-born defender.

Fueling the speculation further, Ndamane did not feature in Galaxy’s recent 1-0 Betway Premiership loss to Sundowns, which led many to believe he was already on his way to Chloorkop.

The Kaizer Chiefs Academy product has been in outstanding form for the Rockets and has become a key figure in their defence—performances that also earned him a call-up to the national team by coach Hugo Broos.

“Yeah, sometimes the rumours can disturb you, because if you focus on them too much, you end up forgetting what you’re supposed to do on the field,” said Ndamane.

“So, I tell myself that whatever is happening is because of my hard work. People will always talk. Everything happens in its own time. My duty is to play football, and if a move is meant to happen, it will happen at the right time.”

Since joining Galaxy at the start of last season, Ndamane has made 40 appearances in all competitions, contributing two assists.

The 21-year-old, whose team sits sixth in the Betway Premiership after beating Golden Arrows at Mbombela Stadium this past weekend, will next be in action when the Rockets visit Polokwane City at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday at 18:00.
