Ngezana’s FCSB Eliminated From Champions League

Romanian club FCSB has been eliminated from the third round of the UEFA Champions League after a 4-3 aggregate defeat to Sparta Prague on Tuesday night.
Despite a 1-1 draw in the first leg, FCSB struggled to match their Czech opponents in the return fixture. Sparta Prague dominated the first half, scoring three unanswered goals through Veljko Birmančević and Lukáš Haraslín.
FCSB rallied in the second half, with Darius Dumitru Olaru pulling one goal back and assisting on another for Malcom Sylas Edjouma. However, the late goals proved to be too little, too late, as FCSB was unable to overturn the deficit.
This marks the end of FCSB’s Champions League campaign. The Romanian side, which won the European Cup in 1986 and the European Super Cup in 1987, will now have to wait for another opportunity to reach the competition’s elite stages. However, it is not the end of the road for Ngezana, who played the full match against Sparta Prague, in playing in Europe as this elimination will see them drop to the playoffs of the UEFA Europa League.
