Nodada Nearing Move To Durban City

Thabo Nodada is on the verge of making his next move in the Betway Premiership, with newly promoted side Durban City welcoming him.
This comes after Nodada was released by Cape Town City at the end of last season following the club’s relegation via the PSL playoffs.
The Xopo-born midfielder was Cape Town City’s longest-serving member, having been with the club since the start of the 2016/17 season. He joined when City’s owner, John Comitis, acquired the status of Mpumalanga Black Aces.
Nodada, who was previously linked with moves to powerhouses like Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs, was a significant figure for Cape Town City. He featured in an impressive 250 matches, scoring 18 goals and providing 17 assists, while also winning two trophies with the club.
With Cape Town City now in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, the club was unable to retain Nodada and several other key players, including Haashim Domingo, Thami Mkhize, Darren Keet, Kamohelo Mokotjo, Darwin Gonzalez, Elson Sithole, and Fortune Makaringe.
Notably, Domingo and Keet have already found new homes at Durban City, reuniting with coach Gavin Hunt.
Now, Durban City is keen on bringing Nodada on board, with coach Hunt emphasizing the need for more players in his currently small squad ahead of the upcoming season. Nodada has already been seen in action for Durban City, playing in a friendly match against Golden Arrows at People’s Park, just outside the Moses Mabhada Stadium on Saturday.
Interestingly, Nodada’s first-ever PSL goal was scored against a team then known as Maritzburg United (now Durban City) in the 2015/16 season. Playing for Mpumalanga Black Aces under former City coach Muhsin Ertugral, he netted with a left-footed strike at Harry Gwala Stadium.
In that match, Judas Moseamedi, who also previously played for Maritzburg, scored to secure a 2-0 victory for Aces. Nodada’s second PSL goal came in the same season, in March 2016, against Hunt’s then-team, Bidvest Wits, at Mbombela Stadium.
