Ouaddou: Siwelele Had Jesus Christ In Goals

Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou said his team gave everything on the field, but it simply wasn’t meant to be after their draw against Siwelele at Orlando Amstel Arena on Saturday. 

The 1-1 draw might be considered a setback for Pirates, who last won the league in 2012 and are hoping to go all the way this season.

To keep those dreams alive, they’ll need defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns to drop points in the games ahead, starting with Marumo Gallants on Tuesday.

The Buccaneers tactician believes his side dominated the game and gave everything, but says they were unlucky not to get the result they wanted.

“About the game, we dominated that game,” said Ouaddou, whose side is one point clear of Sundowns, albeit having played a game more.

“In terms of possession, in terms of chances creation, and in terms of shots on target. Unfortunately, we conceded a goal early, which is something that we don’t have the habit. And after that, we had to chase and come back to score. I think the boys had a personality to come back.”

“We gave really everything to win that game, unfortunately, it was not the case,” Ouaddou added. 

The 47-year-old hailed the incredible performance from the opponent’s goalkeeper, Ricardo Goss, who made crucial saves and won the man of the match, describing him as Jesus Christ. 

“First of all, we have to give credit to the goalkeeper,” said Ouaddou. 

“He was the man of the match. We didn’t have a goalkeeper today [on Saturday]. I can say we had a Jesus Christ in the goal today [on Saturday]. He saved everything, so we have to give him credit. My players gave everything to shoot on target, but we had a wall in the goal, and I think he saved his team. He did a fantastic game.”
