Ouaddou: Things Will Change Soon
Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has vowed that things will change soon despite his side’s loss to Sekhukhune United in their opening Betway Premiership game on Saturday.
Ouaddou’s side dominated possession and created numerous chances but failed to capitalize, ultimately succumbing to a single goal from Siphesihle Mkhize.
The Buccaneers will hope for a better outcome when they face Ouaddou’s former club, Marumo Gallants, at Dr. Molemela Stadium on Tuesday night.
“This loss doesn’t mean I’ll lose hope in my boys; we have quality, and I’ll always say that,” Ouaddou said after the game. “But I think there’s a lot of work that needs to be done. We have a large squad, and many players are new to the team. I believe in these players; we have quality players, and believe me, this is only the beginning. Soon things will change, and we’ll come back.”
The loss places Pirates in 13th position on the log, while Sekhukhune sits in sixth. However, Ouaddou is already looking ahead to the clash in Bloemfontein against a Gallants side that started their season with a win against Richards Bay.
“Yes, I have seen their results, and congratulations to them,” Ouaddou added. “But it’s important for me and the team to go to Gallants and get the result. When you lose the first game at home, you need to get points away to stay in the race.”
It is crucial that Pirates get something out of this game since they will host Mamelodi Sundowns at a sold-out Orlando Stadium in the MTN8 first-leg semi-final on Saturday afternoon.
