Ouaddou: This Point Could Be Useful At The End

Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou remains positive despite dropping crucial points in their Betway Premiership 1-1 draw against Siwelele at Orlando Amstel Arena on Saturday.

Pirates sit top with 48 points from 21 games, one point ahead of second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns, who have 47 points and a game in hand.

This could be a setback for the Buccaneers, who had hopes of winning the league this season.

Ouaddou’s chance of winning his first league title in South Africa may be slipping away, with Sundowns getting momentum at just the right time after a shaky start to the season.

The 47-year-old still believes that with nine games remaining, the team can still find its rhythm back again.

“From my side, we just have to keep going and to believe,” said Ouaddou.

“Still nine games. Our boys gave everything today [on Saturday] on the pitch at the end of the game. Maybe in the last third, we could have been more efficient, but let’s take the positives; there are still nine games to go. Everything can happen.”

He continued: “In football, there’s no exact science. We’ll give some rest to the guys, and after we come back to the battle, we’ll fight till death.

Ouaddou added that maybe a point they collected could be useful when the season ends, highlighting that they’ll fight until the end.

“We cannot lie and say we’re not disappointed because we have a feeling that we have lost two points at home,” Ouaddou stated.

“The chance created, the ball possession, the shot on the target, as I told you. But for us, let’s fight until the end. Maybe at the end of the season, this point can be precious for us, but only at the end of this season can we provide feedback about this point. Is it two points that we lost, or is it one point regarding the opponent? Let’s fight till the end.”
