Pirates Reveal Their First Official Signing

Orlando Pirates has officially confirmed their first signing of the season, capturing Delvi Miguel Vieira from Petro de Luanda on a three-year deal.
Vieira won two league titles with Angolan side along with Super Cup, which came as part of the double this past season.
“Orlando Pirates Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of Delvi Miguel Vieira,” Pirates said in a statement.
“The 23-year-old joins the Club on a three-year deal after passing a medical and finalising personal terms.
“Delvi, who is better known as Gilberto, joins the Buccaneers after two seasons with Angolan Girabola champions Petro du Luanda.”
Gilberto scored in the Africa Cup of Nations group stages against Mauritania, where they topped the Group D.
They beat Namibia in the round of 16 before losing to Nigeria in the quarter finals.
“The enterprising forward comes off an impressive season where he starred at the African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast earlier in the year, helping guide Angola to the quarterfinals of the competition,” added Pirates in a statement.
“Gilberto is due to fly back to Angola today to finalise the necessary paperwork so that he can join the squad for its outbound Preseason Tour to Spain from 8 July.”
Players who are set to follow Vieira to be signed in the next coming days by the Soweto giants are Kegan Johannes, Thalente Mbatha and Selaelo Rasebotja from SuperSport United.
