Pirates Triumph Over Sevilla In Pre-Season Friendly

Orlando Pirates secured a convincing 2-0 victory against Spanish giants Sevilla at Estadio Jesús Navas on Monday night, extending their unbeaten run in their European pre-season tour.
Miguel Timm opened the scoring in the 21st minute with a well-placed header from a Relebohile Mofokeng corner. The goal came after a dominant first half for the Soweto giants, who narrowly missed taking the lead earlier when Monnapule Saleng rattled the post.
Melusi Buthelezi produced a crucial save in the latter stages, denying Lucas Ocampos’ attempt to equalize for Sevilla.
The second half saw a complete squad rotation by Pirates, but their control of the game remained impressive. The newly signed Angolan winger, Gilberto, showcased his pace and caused problems for the Sevilla defense.
Kabelo Dlamini sealed the victory for Pirates in the 82nd minute with a spectacular curled shot from outside the box. This impressive win came against a decorated opponent, Sevilla, who boast seven Europa League titles.
This victory marks the sixth friendly match for Pirates in Europe. They have won three and drawn the remaining games, all played in Spain, having ventured in Spain during the off season last year. Their next and final match abroad will be against Granada at Banús Football Center in Marbella on Wednesday – the same venue where they drew 2-2 with Wayne Rooney’s Plymouth Argyle last Friday.
