Pule Aims To Replicate Wits Success With Hunt at SuperSport

SuperSport United winger Vincent Pule is eager to repay the faith shown in him by coach Gavin Hunt. Pule rejoined Hunt during the off-season after leaving Orlando Pirates at the end of last season.
The two previously worked together at Bidvest Wits until the 2018/19 season, before Pule’s move to Pirates. During their time at Wits, they won the league title and the MTN8 trophy in the 2016/17 season. The following season, Pule scored the winning goal in Wits’ Telkom Knockout final victory over Bloemfontein Celtic at Princess Magogo Stadium, a backheel finish after a pass from Egyptian striker Amr Gamal.
Pule believes their past success at Wits can be replicated at SuperSport, where Hunt also enjoyed a successful first stint, winning four major trophies, including three league titles. “For sure, we have a good squad, good quality players,” Pule told Sportswire. “We have experienced players here as well. It is just about putting it together and getting things together and converting our chances. As soon as we get that right, everything will fall into place.”
SuperSport has had a difficult season so far, currently sitting 12th in the Betway Premiership table with 17 points from 17 matches. They have the league’s lowest goal tally (seven) and have conceded 17. Their win against Magesi in December is their last league victory, with a six-match winless streak following that result.
When asked about their target for the end of the season, Pule remained focused on the immediate future. “We just have to take one game at a time and let’s see where that takes us,” he said. “We just have to push and make sure that we win the games that we have to win, and we will take it from there.”
SuperSport hosts Cape Town Spurs in the Nedbank Cup round of 16 at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Wednesday night. They progressed to this stage with a 2-0 win over Magesi last month.
