Real Santa Cruz Announce The Return Of Flopped Chiefs Striker

Real Santa Cruz have announced the return of Efmamjjasond González, who failed to make a significant impact at Kaizer Chiefs last season.

The Colombian striker joined Chiefs in August last year on a season-long loan with an option to buy. However, despite being Real Santa Cruz’s top scorer with eight goals in 17 Bolivian Premier matches before joining Amakhosi, González failed to impress. He only managed 13 appearances in all competitions for Chiefs and did not score a single goal.

It’s clear that González’s arrival did not address Chiefs’ problems, as the Soweto giants finished 10th in the DStv Premiership – their lowest position in the PSL era. This underwhelming performance has led to calls for change as Chiefs look to rectify their mistakes and challenge for trophies again.

Chiefs will need a significant improvement to compete with teams like Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates, who dominated last season, winning three of the four major domestic trophies.

In contrast, Chiefs failed to mount a serious challenge in any competition, which was a major disappointment for the club and its fans, who are eager to see an end to the trophy drought that began in the 2014/15 season.

Given the team’s struggles, changes are expected at Chiefs as they attempt to rebuild and challenge for silverware once again.
