Richards Bay Makes New Signings While Eyeing PSL Future

Despite being embroiled in the intense PSL promotion/relegation playoffs, Richards Bay is already preparing for next season.

They have secured two promising players from the KwaZulu-Natal ABC Motsepe League.

The club has signed Fezile Gcaba (sky blue jersey below) and Sbani Khumalo (red and white jersey below) from Mkhumbane Classic, a KZN Motsepe League side. Both players impressed at the recent Manqobe Mkhize Khabba Cup, a tournament held at King Zwelithini Stadium in Durban two weeks ago.

Khumalo was part of the squad that was put together by Two For Joy that won the tournament and walked away with R120,000 prize money.

“Hearty congratulation goes to two of our players for signing with Richards Bay FC,” Mkhumbane Classic said in a statement.

“We wish them both the best of luck with their endevours.”

Khumalo, a left-back, even earned the coveted Player of the Tournament award at the Khabba Cup. Interestingly, AmaZulu recently signed Mbhobho Ndlovu, the tournament’s top scorer.

Meanwhile, Richards Bay needs only a draw in the upcoming PSL promotion/relegation playoff against Baroka FC at King Zwelithini Stadium on Wednesday (15:00) to secure their DStv Premiership status for next season. However, they will have to contend with the loss of Sanele Barns, who will be joining Stellenbosch FC next season.
