Rising Star Mfundo Vilakazi Signs Long-Term Deal with Kaizer Chiefs!

Kaizer Chiefs fans, rejoice! Teenage prodigy Mfundo Vilakazi has committed his future to the club, signing a contract extension that keeps him at Naturena until June 2028.

Vilakazi’s journey with the Amakhosi began in 2021, where he quickly impressed in the Youth Development Academy’s under-17 team. His talent shone so brightly that he earned a promotion to the reserve team, where he continued to excel for the next two seasons.

This season, the naturally gifted 18-year-old caught the eye of the senior team coaches. After training with the first team, he was officially included in the squad, much to the delight of the Kaizer Chiefs faithful.

While he hasn’t yet become a regular starter, Vilakazi has already made his presence felt. He’s been included in the matchday squad six times, making two substitute appearances – one in the iconic Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates and another in the Nedbank Cup.

The Soweto-born attacking midfielder couldn’t hide his excitement about the new contract. “It’s a dream come true to play for Kaizer Chiefs,” he said. “I’m committed to contributing to the Club and repaying the faith shown in me. I won’t let the supporters down!”

Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr. echoed the enthusiasm, praising Vilakazi’s exceptional talent and his potential to be a star for years to come. He also highlighted the importance of the club’s development structures in nurturing young players like Vilakazi.

This contract extension is a win-win for both Vilakazi and Kaizer Chiefs. The youngster gets a chance to hone his skills alongside established stars, while the club secures a promising talent for the future. Amakhosi fans can look forward to seeing more of Vilakazi’s dazzling displays in the years to come!
