Riveiro: The Future Is Bright For Nkota

Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro has showered praise on Mohau Nkota after his impressive start against SuperSport United in the Betway Premiership on Tuesday.

The attacking young midfielder, who started on the left wing, showcased his talent and potential until he was taken off in the 65th minute as he took the spot of Monnapule Saleng as Pirates won 2-0 at Orlando Stadium to go top of the Betway Premiership table.

Nkota’s performance, which included a disallowed goal in a previous match against Magesi FC in the Carling Knockout Round of 16 over the weekend, has caught the attention of fans and experts alike. Riveiro believes that Nkota has a bright future ahead but emphasizes the importance of remaining grounded and focused.

“I’m going to repeat with what I said in the interview after the game, I’m really happy to see Mohau on the field, playing with his personality,” said Riveiro.

“I think everyone got the opportunity to see the player that he is. This is Nkota that was on the field with good things and some of the things that he needs to improve.

“Obviously, it was his first 65 minutes at Orlando Stadium and is going to be a good feature. But it is important to see these youngsters play with personality, playing with confidence.

Riveiro also mentioned other promising youngsters like Relebohile Mofokeng and stressed the importance of hard work and humility for a successful career. “For some others like Relebohile Mofokeng, the future belongs to them right now and it is in their hands to keep their feet on the ground, to take care of themselves, to stay humble to continue learning because they still have a lot of things to learn in this profession.

“And now, the most difficult thing is to make sure that you can have a long career. There are a lot of players who have been booted in the premier league, but it is for them to work hard so they can keep going forward because others will do it, and if you don’t do it, it doesn’t matter if you have these opportunities like they have right now.

“So, I’m wishing him all the best. He’s a humbled guy, hard work. I’m sure that the future belongs to him.”

With their victory, Pirates currently lead the Betway Premiership table with 12 points after four matches. However, Mamelodi Sundowns can reclaim the top spot if they defeat Royal AM on Wednesday. Pirates’ next match is against bottom-placed AmaZulu on Friday.
