Orlando Pirates coach José Riveiro will lead the All-Star team as they face the defending Carling Knockout Cup champions at Orlando Stadium on Saturday (15:30), the organizers have confirmed.

Riveiro will be coaching this team for the second consecutive year, having gained significant popularity in South African club football with the Soweto Giants since he arrived in June 2022. This selection is a direct result of fan votes.

The All-Stars team defeated Stellenbosch 2-1 at Peter Mokaba Stadium earlier this year.

Fans, as key stakeholders in this unique event, have once again exercised their voting power to select five players from the DStv Diski Challenge across all 15 clubs.

Pirates is the most represented club in the starting lineup, with five players: Sipho Chaine, Mbekezi Mbokazi, Jabulani Mokone, Relebohile Mofokeng, and Monnapule Saleng.

Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs each have three players in the team. Chiefs’ representatives are Aden McCarthy, Naledi Hlongwane, and Ashley Du Preez. Sundowns’ selections include Asekho Tiwani, Grant Kekana, and Bathusi Aubaas.

Magesi clinched the Carling Knockout trophy by defeating Sundowns 2-1 at Toyota Stadium last month.
