SAFA President Arrested – Report

SAFA president Dr Danny Jordaan has been arrested, according to the report.
According to Timeslive, Jordaan, who has been a divisive figure as SAFA president of late, was arrested for fraud of R1.3 million along with Safa CFO Gronie Hluyo and a 46-year-old businessman on Wednesday morning.
“The allegations are that between 2014 and 2018, the president of Safa used the organisation’s resources for his personal gain, including hiring a private security company for his personal protection and a public relations company, without authorisation from the Safa board,” according to the Hawks statement on TimeLive.
Jordaan was investigated by the hawks, the crime investigation unit that was probing the allegations, and executed search and seizure warrants in March at the Safa offices, where electronic gadgets and files were seized, leading to the arrests.
Jordaan appeared in the Palm Ridge magistrate’s court on Wednesday, as it was revealed by National Prosecuting Authority (NPA0 spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane.
Jordaan, who was elected in a landslide vote in June 2022, has been accused of running the association like his own fiefdom by previous CEOs such as Denis Mumble and Gay Mokoena.
His term will expire in 2026, but Sportswire has been informed that he wants to run for re-election again even though he said when he was elected in 2022 that this was his last term in the office of SAFA.
