Sanoka Signs With SuperSport

Defender Pogiso Sanoka has signed a four-year contract with SuperSport United, according to Sportswire.

Sanoka joins SuperSport after the club recently parted ways with defender Siyanda Xulu following just one season.

He said his goodbyes to TS Galaxy in the past few days, where he was a key defensive member, especially last season.

Sanoka departs after four seasons with Tim Sukazi’s club. The former Maritzburg United defender joined Galaxy in the second half of the 2020/21 season. Previously, he spent six seasons at Maritzburg, arriving in the 2015/16 campaign.

Sanoka was a standout player in Maritzburg’s 2017/18 season, where they finished fourth in the league and reached the Nedbank Cup final (lost to Free State Stars).

He became Galaxy’s captain at the start of last season following Given Msimango’s departure to Kaizer Chiefs. Sanoka was a defensive rock, starting all 30 league matches as Sead Ramovic’s side achieved their highest league finish (sixth) in the DStv Premiership.

Across all competitions last season, Sanoka played 36 matches, including four Carling Knockout appearances where they lost to Stellenbosch FC in the final held in Durban.

His departure adds to an exodus at Galaxy, joining the likes of Vasilije Kolak, Higor Vidal, Vuyo Mere, Bernard Parker, and Lehlohonolo Mejala.

Mojela was sold to Stellenbosch, while Parker and Mere are transitioning to roles with the DStv Diski Challenge team next season.

Galaxy are currently banned by FIFA from signing new players, despite assessing a number of potential signings. The club is working to have the ban lifted, according to Sukazi.
