Sekhukhune Sign Polokwane City Goalkeeper

Sekhukhune United has added another player to their roster, securing goalkeeper Manuel Sapunga from Polokwane City.

Sapunga joins a list of new signings for Sekhukhune that includes Bradley Grobler, Sphiwe Mahlangu, Miguel Timm, and Ronaldo Maarman.

The club also recalled Wonderboy Makhubu from his loan spell at Magesi FC last season; Makhubu notably led Magesi to the Carling Knockout trophy under coach Clinton Larsen.

“Manuel Sapunga has put pen to paper with Sekhukhune United FC. Calm. Reliable. Ready. All the best, Sapunga,” read a statement from the club.

The Equatorial Guinea international joins Sekhukhune as a free agent from Polokwane and will step in to replace Ali Badra Sangare, who left Sekhukhune at the end of last season.

The 32-year-old Sapunga, who joined the Limpopo club in 2022, played in 44 matches across all competitions during his time at Polokwane City, keeping 19 clean sheets.

He helped Phuti Mohafe’s Rise and Shine achieve a top-eight finish last season, mirroring Sekhukhune’s own strong performance, as they finished fourth.
